The Junior League of Fort Wayne established the Fox Island Alliance (FIA) in January 1973, by providing the group’s initial funding. The Junior League’s intention for founding the FIA was: “1) To aid in the coordination of efforts of environmentally oriented community groups, 2) To encourage the planning and development of Fox Island as an environmental teaching resource, and 3) To promote the fullest use of Fox Island by the entire community as a location for nature appreciation.”
